I entered massage therapy in 2020 when the world was facing a global health crisis with the COVID pandemic because i wanted to help people feel better in more natural ways & to be an advocate for whole person healing,
I have always had a leaning toward holistic treatments like natural remedies & 'old-fashioned cures', herbs & plants & living a generally healthy lifestyle to support the body & immune system. I was raised near Pittsburgh, PA & taught treatments & 'tricks' from my Grandma & Mom. Things like "brew a cup of black tea & put the warm teabag on your eye to heal a stye", were normal instead of going to a doctor.
As I grew up & raised my own family, believing God has provided much of what we need from the Earth & having faith that He created our bodies in amazing ways, I began to learn there was science behind my faith & these old fashioned cures & ways to support the body in healing itself. ( For example, the teabag trick works because of the tannins in the black tea & their anti-bacterial & anti-inflammatory properties, as well as the warmth of the teabag soothes the eye & reduces swelling.)
I also became interested in understanding how the body functions & root causes of issues when I suffered with anemia, depression,& women's health issues, needing several medications & surgical procedures because hormone imbalances and emotional traumas were not identified & addressed until decades later.
Additionally, I suffered with plantar fasciitis foot pain for 2 years using traditional podiatrist treatments and was eventually recommended surgery. I did not want surgery and found through chiropractic care that the root cause of my pain in my foot was actually pelvic misalignment. My hips were so 'off' that was it like having 60 extra pounds on the affected foot!! The problem was not my foot--it was my HIPS! Several chiropractic adjustments & massages to loosen back muscles & align the hips, and the pain went away. To think I could have had surgery for no reason!
In massage school & through my own experiences & research, i learned that while many treatments, medications & surgeries are necessary--(don't give me lavender oil if I break my leg-take me to a hospital) --many more are like band-aids on a bullet hole because the wrong things are being treated & the root cause was actually never addressed. I firmly believe we must treat the WHOLE person- the body, environment, emotions, lifestyle, spirit, nutrition, relationships, patterns, --not just one part--because STRESS in these areas is a huge factor. Science is beginning to prove this as well.
Curious by nature & a lifelong learner, I discovered that often things like numbness & pain identified as "carpal tunnel" could really be muscle tightness & nerve impingement in the arm, elbow, or shoulder. Or chronic migraines and/or TMJ could be due to mental/emotional stress, & tightness in the neck and shoulders. Knee pain & low back pain can be caused by issues in the glutes!
Did you know we carry emotional traumas in our bodies and unhealthy or unhealed emotional stress can cause physical pain?
It all matters in overall wellness.
How many medications can be lowered or eliminated when we live more naturally reducing stress, improving mobility and reducing chronic pain? How many DECADES of suffering can be reduced if the correct issue is addressed? How much can we help our bodies heal & feel better with something as simple & enjoyable as getting a massage every other week?
I am compassionate & understanding about limitations & injuries.
I have a heart for and work with many disabled and elderly clients.
I respect and listen to your needs & beliefs.
I give my whole heart, best energy & effort to each client.
My sense of humor, energy & smile are complimented as much as much as my skills.
I'd love to partner with you in helping your body & mind rest, heal & feel better. ✌🏼❤️ 🙌
